Florida basics
How do Florida taxes affect a small business?
Four Florida taxes come up most often for a small business. Here is what the Florida Department of Revenue says about each:
Personal income tax
Florida does not impose a personal income tax, so there are no filing requirements for it.
Corporate income tax
Florida's corporate income tax applies to corporations, including entities that are taxed federally as corporations. The rate is 5.5% for taxable years beginning on or after January 1, 2022. Whether it applies to your business depends on how your entity is taxed federally.
Reemployment tax
Florida employers pay reemployment tax. Workers do not. Only the first $7,000 of each employee's wages in a calendar year is taxable, and the initial rate for new employers is 2.7%. Quarterly reports are due by the end of the month after each quarter ends.
Sales and use tax
Florida's general state sales tax rate is 6%. Many counties add a discretionary sales surtax on top of it. Returns are due on the 1st and late after the 20th of the month following each reporting period.
This is general information, not tax advice, and the rules change. We checked these sources on November 5, 2026. Tell us about your business on a free 20-minute call, and confirm current rules with the Florida Department of Revenue.
Do you work with Florida healthcare agencies and dental practices?
Yes. Healthcare is our specialty. We have 20+ years in healthcare accounting, working with home health, hospice, and home care agencies, wound care, and dental practices.
See our dental accounting, home health accounting, hospice accounting, and home care accounting pages for the details.
How do meetings work?
We start with a free 20-minute call, where you tell us about your business. After that, we meet by video, or in person by appointment when our team is in Florida. You send documents through secure document upload. Tell us your preference when you book.
Can you work with me in Spanish?
Yes. Christian Soriaga, CPA, works with clients in English or Spanish. If you would rather talk through your books, payroll, and taxes in Spanish, tell us when you book and we will schedule the call that way. Hablamos español.
How much do CPA services cost in Orlando?
The price depends on your situation: the entity type, transaction volume, headcount, and which returns are due. We quote every service on your free 20-minute call and send the quote in writing before we start. There is no obligation. See how pricing works.
